Aisul Yanto Born on December 21, 1958 in Sidoarjo – East Java, Indonesia. Growing up in Surabaya's open and egalitarian coastal culture. In the last decade  Aisul has studied and explored painting in black and white. Inspired by the richness of the national heritage and the expression of decorative black and white batik art; the legacy from Majapahit era, which is now almost extinct. 

Aside from his interests in black and white, Aisul also gained inspiration from various cultural riches of the archipelago, such as in Papua, Kalimantan, Mentawai, and other regions. In addition, he enriched himself with comparative studies in various fine, modern, and contemporary art museums in several countries.
